CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan –- A total of 11 public high schools were given each with new computer sets including a printer and router under the Department of Trade and Industry’s PCs for Public High Schools (PCPS) project, June 6 at Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

PCs for Public High School

This was the fourth phase of the PCPS project that started in 2001 and funded by the Government of Japan’s Non-Project Grant Aid-Counter Value Fund.

A total of 74 public high schools in Bulacan had already benefited from four batches of the said computerization program.

The 11 latest recipients were the Bambang National High Schools (NHS), Taliptip NHS, Bulihan NHS, San Roque HS, Iba NHS, Graceville NHS, Golden Vile NHS, San Martin NHS, Virginia Ramirez-Cruz HS, Tibagan NHS and Upig NHS.

Also included in the package were a training program on simple computer troubleshooting, software and hardware maintenance, and Microsoft Office operations for computer teachers.

The PCPS project is DTI’s response to the growing challenges of a fast-emerging knowledge economy.

The computerization program aims to develop the information technology skills of the Filipino youth as the country’s future knowledge workers by providing computer laboratory packages to public high schools.

Governor Wilhelmino Alvarado, Vice-Governor Daniel Fernando, and DTI-Bulacan director Zorina Aldana presented the Certificate of Award to the 11 recipient schools during the formal turnover ceremony. Representatives from the Department of Education were also present at the ceremony.
